Steve and Millie Franklin have been collecting and restoring antiques their whole lives.
With a passion for workmanship and beauty, Steve is meticulous in bringing furniture and collectibles back to their original splendor without compromising the value in their being and looking antique. A consummate craftsman, there is nothing, it seems, he can’t restore. Carousel animals have sparked his curiosity, causing him to become thoroughly educated in the original carvers and the ornate details of the animals. Steve can identify the carver of horses and other carousel animals by their distinctive features, and he has restored several beautiful animals in the past few years.
Whereas carousel carvings are a recent interest, Steve has been collecting and restoring furniture for decades. His attention to detail and his multi-faceted abilities allow him to create exquisite furniture from rusted, broken, worn and unfinished pieces.
He’s my dad and all my life I’ve been amazed at what he can do with his hands and a few tools. All my life I’ve been around antiques, even when we didn’t have the money to buy them. He would trade for them or find them in the basement of a house he was working in and strike up a deal to take the wounded, useless pieces off the previous owners’ hands. Throughout most of my childhood, the antiques most noticed were the Model T and Model A Fords my dad would bring home and restore. He can do it all. And of the things he has for sale now, I would challenge you to find a better restoration job or a more beautiful piece in the price range.
